Inorganic and Organic Chemistry is an introductory course on fundamental concepts and principles of organic chemistry. Aside from organic chemistry, the first part will deal with a review of general chemistry principles needed to have a better understanding of organic chemistry. The review includes introduction to chemical bonding, types of chemical bonds, molecular shape, electronegativity, and polarity. A brief review of intermolecular forces will also be done. Other topics will include the basics of organic chemistry like properties, reactions and application of organic compounds. Emphasis is also given on the practical applications of both general chemistry and organic chemistry in health and medicine. Course activities such as problem solving and laboratory experiments are designed to help develop analytical and critical thinking skills. The course would give a new appreciation of the role of chemistry in both the human body and the larger world around us.
